The Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office in Aizawl, located at Treasury Square, serves as the district's primary administrative and executive hub. It oversees law and order, general administration, arms licensing, and disaster management. Historically established in 1890, it is the focal point for all public services in the region.
Historically tracing back to April 22, 1890, as the Office of the Political Officer of the North Lushai Hills, it has undergone several transformations. Following the amalgamation of the North and South Lushai Hills into a single district in 1898, administration was led by a Superintendent until April 1952. Today, it stands as the central powerhouse of district governance, ensuring that government policies are implemented efficiently.
The current Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Aizawl is Er. Lalhriatpuia, IAS. Located at Treasury Square, the office oversees the capital district's civil administration, disaster management, and elections.
